We’re delighted to share the news that Myzone’s Asia Pacific MD, Emmett Williams, will become the next chair of AUSactive, the key body representing Australia’s exercise and active health sector.
A founding partner of Myzone and existing AUSactive director, Emmett was unanimously voted to replace current chair Jayne Blake, when she steps down in early 2025 after reaching the maximum term under constitution rules.
Driving a national vision of positive change
Emmett is passionate about encouraging Australians to move more to improve their health. An active and engaged AUSactive board member since 2022, he has worked with AUSactive CEO Barrie Elvish to drive the organisation’s successful Government Advocacy efforts following the inaugural Fit for Office campaign in 2023.
“The AUSactive Board and Senior Management Team led by Barrie Elvish are built on incredible talent, so I very much look forward to pursuing the vision of activating everybody, every way, every day.
“Given the concerning state of the nation’s health, our purpose of supporting the industry to improve the health and wellbeing of Australians has never been more critical,” says Emmett.
Strong backing by the CEO of AUSactive
AUSactive CEO Barrie Elvish welcomes the appointment.
“Mr Williams brings many years of deep industry experience, both in Australia and globally, and is exceptionally well connected and respected across the industry and we are thrilled he has accepted the chair position from 2025.
“We are very confident Mr Williams will be an excellent choice to take over from Jayne, leading the Board in the next phase of delivering on the strategic objectives.”
New governance and support for the board
To ensure a smooth transition, a deputy chair position has been created as a new governance support for the board.
Emmett will take up this role following the 2024 AGM and will step into the AUSactive chair position in early 2025.
Jayne Blake will become deputy chair to provide continued support during the transition period until her maximum term on the Board concludes.
